South Korea's first bank-led KRW stablecoin proof-of-concept; built by iM Bank and Finger on the Kaia blockchain; features quantum-resistant (PQC) security via BTQ Technologies and Keypair. BTQ's Q1 2026 filing reports the precursor Finger pilot completed 1,477 production transactions at 100% success with 200+ post-quantum wallets, and names iM Bank as its lead commercial conversion candidate. A real token (iMKRW) has now been issued and transacted on Kaia across two closed pilots — the OpenAsset full-lifecycle PoC (May 2026) and the Coocon/Beatoz payment-ecosystem PoC (July 2026) — so Pharos marks the phase testnet; these are private pilots, not a public testnet, commercialization remains gated on Korean stablecoin legislation, and the production symbol/ticker is not yet confirmed

Coocon, iM Bank, and Beatoz complete stablecoin issuance and payment-ecosystem PoC
Payment APIs bridged bank infrastructure and the Beatoz CPG blockchain, covering policy-fund execution via smart contracts and regional payment infrastructure. No commercialization timeline given.
SourceiM Bank and OpenAsset complete technical PoC issuing 'iMKRW' on Kaia
Controlled-environment proof-of-concept with OpenAsset's OpenMint solution demonstrated the full token lifecycle — issuance, top-up, QR payment, merchant settlement, and burn — across 80+ scenarios. A separate partner track from the Finger/BTQ post-quantum security pilot.
SourceiM Bank and Finger announce first bank-led KRW stablecoin PoC on Kaia
Pilot features quantum-resistant security via BTQ Technologies' post-quantum cryptography stack.
SourceQuantum-Resistant Won
Korean commercial-bank KRW PoC on Kaia with post-quantum security; symbolic of regulatory thaw rather than a commercial product. iM Bank's KRW stablecoin proof-of-concept has a feature that most stablecoins won't need for a decade but makes excellent press releases: quantum-resistant post-quantum cryptography via BTQ Technologies on the Kaia blockchain. Set aside the security theater angle, and the actual significance is that a Korean commercial bank is building a KRW stablecoin at all — South Korea's regulatory stance on private stablecoins has been cautious to the point of paralysis, and a bank-led PoC signals that the regulatory ice may be thawing. The Finger partnership handles the wallet and DeFi integration layer, while iM Bank brings the banking license and the KRW reserves. Whether this moves beyond proof-of-concept depends entirely on whether Korean regulators want to compete with Hashed's OKRW for the title of first regulated KRW stablecoin — or whether they'd prefer neither existed. As a bank-issued PoC, the stack assumes regulated of KRW reserves, statutory , and a banking-rail path that has yet to face commercial traffic.
